A high-speed rail is going to run from Riyadh to Doha

The project aims to provide faster travel between the two capitals

It’s all eyes on the tracks (train tracks, that is) in Saudi Arabia right now. The country is heavily investing in its railway industry and the latest Riyadh-to-Doha high-speed rail is another one on the long list of recently announced rail projects.

The Saudi-Qatar high-speed rail project spans a massive 785 kilometres, serving as a vital link between the two capital cities, Riyadh and Doha, with key stations including Al-Hofuf and Dammam. This railway will also be connected to King Salman International Airport in Riyadh and Hamad International Airport in Doha, facilitating travel between the two countries.

Set to travel at a speed of over 300 kilometres per hour, the train will reduce travel time between the two capitals to just two hours. This decreased travel time will significantly boost trade and tourism between the two countries and also elevate the regional travel experience to new heights.

The project is expected to benefit more than 10 million passengers annually, highlighting the importance of this connection in facilitating the movement of people and opening new avenues for tourism and cultural activities.

According to the plans released by the Saudi Press Agency, the Riyadh-to-Doha high-speed rail is expected to be completed within the next six years while adhering to the highest international quality and safety standards.

The latest railway technologies and smart engineering will be employed to ensure a safe and seamless travel experience, with a focus on environmental sustainability through reducing carbon emissions.
