The marathon is calling on all those who live in the Kingdom to help them reach their goal of 100,000 pages of reading per week.

They hope the mission will help raise awareness of the importance of reading in all age groups.

Want to participate? Here’s what you need to know.

Individuals can register under one of two categories – The Little Reader or The Great Reader. The Little Reader is for children under the age of 12 years who are reading in partnership with their parents, while The Great Reader is for those above 12. The registration form can be found here.

Readers are asked to log in the number of pages they have read each day, along with the correct title of the book and the author’s name.  The total number of pages that readers have recorded will be announced on a daily basis.

On the website, the ministry states that various topics of reading are allowed, as long as it does not affect religion or violate moral values or social traditions recognised in the Kingdom.

On the platform, readers can even post quotes from the books they have read and the best ones will be shared on the website on a weekly basis.

The Reading Marathon is part of “Culture in Isolation” – an initiative by the Ministry of Culture and its cultural bodies to help people invest time and effort into enriching their lives with literature, theatre and more.
