Webedia Arabia Group acquires SaudiGamer.com

Webedia Arabia is paving the way for the gaming industry to make a ground-breaking impact in the region…

Saudi-based gaming platform SaudiGamer.com has just been acquired by the internationally renowned gaming experts Webedia Esports Agency.

The partnership was done through their local arm Webedia Arabia Group, which has presences in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon.

According to NEWZOO Gaming Report 2019/2020, Saudi Arabia is the world’s 19th largest gaming market for revenue. With an estimated 21.1 million active gamers here, Saudi Arabia is setting a new precedent in the gaming and esports industry with well over $1 billion in revenue and year-on-year growth of over 40%.

The deal will see SaudiGamer.com develop and expand on several levels, with the ultimate goal of attaining more reach and recognition internationally. This will be done by facilitating coverage of local and regional esports tournaments and events; introducing various new shows on YouTube with gaming celebrities; and collaborating with the region’s top gaming influencers for exclusive content.

In addition, Webedia Arabia’s strategies are to enhance the platform’s interface and upgrade its usability; build a bigger community for gamers to interact, connect, engage and learn; and increase content to include more news, reviews, game ratings, videos and podcasts, and the latest tips and tricks.

Mashhour Aldubayan, founder of SaudiGamer.com, said, “Although we had multiple offers in the past, I found that Webedia Arabia Group is the only company that can take SaudiGamer.com to the next level.”

“The new wave of gaming capabilities and expertise for our dedicated gamers is going to be spectacular,” he added. Aldubayan will remain as an advisor in the early stages of the acquisition before handing over the reins.

According to a press release, SaudiGamer.com boasted over 9 million pageviews by over 2 million users and garnered 2.5 million subscribers on YouTube, 1.7 million followers on Instagram, and half a million followers on Twitter last year.

UTURN, the Saudi digital machine and the creator of entertaining and storytelling content – which is also part of the Webedia Arabia Group – said it would play an active role in SaudiGamer.com’s evolution.

“The gaming and esports industry in Saudi Arabia is expanding at light speed, and both the Riyadh and Jeddah seasons propelled the demand. In alliance with SaudiVision 2030, SAFEIS, GEA and NEOM, we are working simultaneously toward the transformation, which is expected to create a strong footprint on the economy-boosting businesses, jobs and opportunities for many in the Kingdom,” explained Kaswara Al Khatib, Chairman of the Board, Webedia Arabia Group and Founder of UTURN.

“SaudiGamer.com has played a pivotal role in bringing attention to this type of entertainment, and we are glad to be a part of it levelling up,” he said.
