Of all of Saudi Arabia’s exciting upcoming megaprojects, Qiddya is one of the most exciting for thrill seekers. Alongside the Middle East outpost of legendary theme park Six Flags, the future capital of entertainment, sports and the arts in Saudi Arabia will also be home to the region’s largest water park.

The Qiddiya Water Theme Park will be spread over an expansive 252,000 square metres, with a collection of 22 rides and attractions for visitors to make a splash at. The water park will be split into nine innovative zones each inspired by the native animals that surround Qiddya: Entry Gate, Camel Rock, Dub Grotto, Wave Wadi, the Den, Viper Canyon, Arabian Peak, the Herding Grounds and Surf Lagoon.

“The Qiddiya Water Theme Park will be a year-round immersive family entertainment destination, the first of its kind and offering experiences that have never before been offered in Saudi,” said Abdullah Aldawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC).

Among the adrenaline-fueled adventures on offer, there will be nine world first rides, a state-of-the-art competition water sports facility and a collection of 17 restaurants and shops for visitors to fuel up at. For now, there’s no timeline on when we might be able to test out all the thrilling rides, but QIC has now awarded a contract to the value of SAR 2.8 billion to build the park.

The news comes only months after a contract was awarded for the construction of Six Flags Qiddiya at a cost of SAR 3.7 billion. It will feature several world’s first rides including the signature attraction, The Falcon’s Flight, which is the tallest, longest and fastest roller coaster in the world.
