Saudi leaders send condolences as UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan passes away
UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa was 73 years old…
UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan passed away today, Friday May 13, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs has announced. He was 73 years old.
Saudi Arabia’s Royal Court issued a statement that read: The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister received with great sadness and sorrow the news of passing away of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, may Allah bestow mercy on his soul and reside him in paradise.
The leaders “Expressed their deepest condolences and sympathy to the government of the United Arab Emirates, the honorable Al Nahyan family, the brotherly Emirati people, and to the Arab and Islamic nations on passing away of a leader who has given a lot to his people, nation and the world,” the statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) read.
A statement on wam read, “the Ministry of Presidential Affairs condoles the people of the UAE, the Arab and Islamic nation and the world over the demise of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the UAE.”
Sheikh Kahlifa became the second president of the UAE and the 16th ruler of Abu Dhabi on November 3, 2004. He was the eldest son of Sheikh Zayed.
There will be a 40-day mourning period across the UAE.
