Maiz is bringing upscale Saudi Arabian cuisine to Diriyah
One for your culinary bucket list…
Maiz is on a mission: to put Saudi cuisine on the map, not only at its home of Bujairi Terrace within the Diriyah megaproject – but globally. And ahead of its opening, the hospitality brand behind the restaurant, Al Khozama, have shared a first look at what to expect.
Promising a completely authentic celebration of Saudi Arabian cuisine and culture, Maiz is a stylish space with grand interiors befitting of the beautifully historic setting. A leafy terrace outside will be a chic spot to explore the fine-dining dishes in the cooler months, while inside jewel tones, huge chandeliers and bright artworks create inviting interiors.
On the menu, traditional Saudi recipes will be reimagined with contemporary finesse, redefining what diners may have grown to expect Saudi Arabian cuisine to look and taste like. We already can’t wait to try it.
“MAIZ is more than just a hospitality concept, it represents a unique journey of the kingdom’s heritage and culture, providing an exclusive destination for the lovers of Saudi flavours,” explained Khaled Saud Abu Haimed, CEO of Al-Khozama.
Although we don’t have a confirmed opening date, the new restaurant is one of 18 exciting openings coming later this year to the dazzling new culinary destination within Diriyah. Alongside a collection of homegrown restaurants, Bujairi Terrace will see the arrival of some of the biggest names in the international restaurant business. To give you an indication of the incredibly high calibre, four hold Michelin stars at their flagship venues abroad: Bruno, Hakkasan, Long Chim and Spanish restaurant Tatel.
Bruno, the second outpost of the much-loved Chez Bruno, which has been part of the French Riviera’s dining scene since 1990, will provide upscale Italian dishes; while Tatel will bring its much-loved glamour across Miami, Ibiza, and Madrid to Diriyah. Hakkasan, one of the most influential Chinese restaurants in the world, will serve up a modern take on traditional Cantonese cooking; and Critically acclaimed Long Chim introduces premium Thai to the area.
