The midday work break for outdoor workers in Saudi Arabia will be implemented from Thursday June 15, it has been announced via the Saudi Gazette. Throughout the summer, outdoor workers must break from 12pm to 3pm every day until Friday September 15 under the directive.
The annual summer midday work break in Saudi Arabia is directed by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) and imposed in coordination with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health. It applies to all outdoor workers in private sector companies, and ensures that workers are protected from occupational hazards and work-related injuries.
Employers are asked to organise work hours accordingly during the summer period to ensure a safe working environment for all.
A health and safety Procedural Guide can be viewed on the ministry website, outlining the requirements for preventing sun exposure and heat exhaustion. If you see any violations of the work ban, these should be reported via the customer service phone number, 19911.
