Restaurant Review: Mamo Michelangelo Riyadh

Charming Italian classics in a gorgeous setting…

Created in 1992, the famous Italian Provençal-style restaurant Mamo Michelangelo first opened in Riyadh in 2020 and has recently become a crowd-favourite here in the capital.

The celebrity-filled five-star restaurant from the French Riviera has catered to the likes of Mike Tyson, Rihanna, and Angelina Jolie.

Step foot inside Mamo Michelangelo Riyadh, and you immediately feel at home. Warm lighting graces the space, linen-clad tables surround a cosy dining area where you can catch glimpses of fresh pizza being made to order, and a display of delicious gelato (but more on that later).

Take a stroll around the venue and you’ll be greeted with dozens of interesting photographs throughout the space from over the years. The Riyadh location has managed to reproduce the look and feel of the flagship Antibes restaurant to a t.

Chef Mamo

Mamo Michelangelo’s menu perfectly embodies the flavour of both Italy and the South of France. The restaurant exudes the incredible warmth of the south of Italy and France and all of the style of the Mediterranean just like the incredible Chef Mamo.

More about the food…

Once you’ve picked a table (during the colder months we suggest dining in on featuring an al fresco terrace), flip through the menu and if you’re not sure of what to order, feel free to ask one of the sharply dressed waiters on their recommendations.

We started our meal with the refreshing Salad Julius (SAR85), made with rocket salad, tomatoes, Parmesan, shaved artichoke and creamy anchovy dressing, the most amazing Melanzane alla Parmigiana (SAR85), and a delicious Burrata Pugliese (SAR98) served with tomatoes and basil.

Next up we stuck our forks into Mamo’s signature creamy delight of Truffle Raviolini (SAR265) and perfectly cooked al dente Bucatini alla Matriciana (SAR145). We also had helpings of fresh whole Sea Bass (SAR68 per 100 grams) and slices of pizzas like Margherita (SAR135) and Foccaccia al Tarufo (SAR285).

Even though we were completely stuffed after the incredible food, just one look at the dessert platter (SAR240) and our dessert appetite kicked in. The platter includes an assortment of treats like the famous (and rightfully so) Tiramisu, Sicilian Cheesecake, Lemon Tarte and Creme Brulee.

All in all, Mamo Michelangelo Riyadh is the perfect place to go when you want to catch up with friends or surprise a loved one. Expect good vibes in a charming atmosphere in the heart of Riyadh.
