Set to music composed by Petr Ilich Tchaikovsky, the ballet tells the story of Odette, a beautiful young princess cursed by the evil sorcerer Rothbart, who condemned her to transform into a swan during the day. She encounters a young Prince Siegfried, and the two become infatuated with one another.

In the first act, it’s Prince Siegfried’s 21st birthday, and people have gathered from all over the Kingdom to celebrate the occasion and his coming of age, indicating his pending nuptials.

The prince then encounters the Queen of the Swans, Odette, whose curse is that she and her friends are and must remain swans by day, but between midnight and dawn, they may resume their human form. Only the pure love of a young man can remove the curse.

Follow along to see how the evil sorcerer Rothbart drives the two apart in a spell-binding tale of love, betrayal, and redemption.
