Riyadh's getting a brand-new King Abdulaziz Park

Development has already begun…

As part of Vision 2030, the Green Riyadh project was launched to make the capital a greener, cooler city for twice the population. The project encompasses new parks, planting trees, and more. Now, let’s take a look at the project’s latest venture, King Abdulaziz Park.

Set to open in three years, the park’s design was one of several presented by four international companies and once completed will cover about 4.3 million square metres according to Arab News

The new park will feature six distinct green spaces, the main one being the central botanical garden spanning 200,000 square meters and featuring more than 200 species of local plants.

The park will be built in the north of the capital close to King Khalid International Airport, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University and a train station.

A major design element is the Munsiyah Tributary, a branch of the Al-Sulai Valley, which runs for 11 kilometres through the park, there will also be 2 million trees and shrubs to provide shade throughout the open space.

King Abdulaziz Park also has terraces, squares, open theatres for events and festivals, and restaurants, the design also includes 24 children’s areas and 30 sports zones.
