Getaway goals: 3 more Red Sea resorts are opening soon

We’re already packing our bags…

There are already a trio of Red Sea resorts inviting guests to enjoy the shimmering azure waters, breathtaking desert vistas and authentic Saudi hospitality on KSA’s northwest coast. But before the end of the year, three more are set to join them. Get ready to check-in to Shebara Resort, Thuwal Resort, and Desert Rock Resort.

Each a visually show-stopping, unique offering, whether it’s an exclusive getaway with your nearest and dearest, a taste of Maldives in Saudi, or a desert retreat that offers a true immersion into the locale, take a look at what to expect at these upcoming Red Sea Resorts…

Shebara Resort

Set to open in the coming months, Shebara resort will be the first hotel to be operated by Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind the entire Red Sea Project. The self-described hyper-luxury resort, located at the southern part of the development, is set within the thriving Al Aajh lagoon, reachable via a scenic 20-minute seaplane from The Red Sea Airport. The 73 villas are each a show-stopping orb made from stainless steel to reflect the colours of the sky and ocean. They’re divided between 38 pod-like overwater villas, and the rest will dot the beachfront. Driverless buggies will take guests to the inner lagoon, where a lobby and all-day dining restaurant will also be found. To get to their villa, guests will head either north or south. To the north, you’ll find the coral reef water villas, beach villas and signature restaurant. The southern boardwalk will take guests to the lagoon villas, and a unique spa experience. Other wow-worthy facilities including a family pool, a spa and fitness centre within the island’s dunes, and an adults-only pool with lily pad style seating terraces perfect for sundowners.

Desert Rock Resort

First announced in September 2021, Desert Rock is one of two inland resorts coming to the first phase of The Red Sea, alongside the already open Six Senses Southern Dunes. And it’s set to open later this year, according to a LinkedIn post by Red Sea Global CEO, John Pagano. The 60-key, hyper-luxury resort is dramatically situated within the craggy rocks of The Red Sea, and is designed to blend modern architecture into the natural landscape. Desert Rock will feature 50 luxury villas and 10 hotel rooms that offer uninterrupted spectacular views of the surrounding desert. Among them, the most wow-worthy rooms have been carefully excavated from the rock face, inviting guests to stay not only on the mountain range, but within it. State-of-the-art resort amenities will include a spa and fitness centre, remote destination dining areas, and a feature lagoon oasis. Guests will also be able to hike, use dune buggies, and stargaze as part of the site-wide activities program.

Thuwal Resort

What’s better than a group getaway with your family or friends? A group getaway where you take over an entire private island resort. That’s what you’ll be able to do at Thuwal Resort, a luxurious private retreat opening later this year. Exclusively available for private buyouts, this resort is separate from the rest of the Red Sea Project, a dreamy 1.7 hectare islet nestled in an unspoiled coral archipelago. Unrolling along a sugary sand island, the private island resort features a main three-bedroom villa plus three one-bedroom suites, making it a stunning spot for island getaways for up to twelve. Facilities that await you and your crew include your own private wellness centre, a chic beach club, and a gym. Of course, this is the perfect base for endless marine-themed adventures, like snorkelling and diving. For more cultural experiences, visits to the nearby Thuwal village or history-filled Jeddah are an immersion into authentic local life.
