Riyadh's beloved Thai restaurant opens a new branch

The Yasmin spot is now open for business…

When Thai Soi first opened its doors in Riyadh last year, the quaint little spot in Awal Plaza became massively popular for its street food style food. The venue has now landed in Rasees Plaza with a brand-new Thai Soi location in Riyadh.

Opening its doors in Rasees Plaza in early August, the restaurant has won even more hearts (if that’s even possible). The eatery offers a youthful, colourfully casual spot that serves modern renditions of classic Thai recipes.

A darling of the Riyadh dining scene, the new location is a tad bit bigger, and features the iconic Thai Soi mural, cool trinkets up on walls, a rickshaw right up front, and an open kitchen so you can be snap bang in the middle of the action and watch your food as it’s being made (don’t forget to ‘gram it).

From vibrant curries bursting with aromatic spices to delicate stir-fried creations, each plate showcases the depth and complexity of Thai cuisine. The swell of bright dishes includes familiar staples som tum (green papaya salad), massaman curry, and pad thai.

We tucked into the Tom Yum Kung soup (SAR29 per bowl, which for us is an absolute must-try, as it uses prawn stock made from scratch. The Thai Prawn Dumplings (SAR36) are also a top appestiser option, along with Kai Tod Nam Pla (SAR29) which are just chicken wings marinated in Thai spices and served with a house sauce.

Among our other favourites, is the staple Pad Thai which you can get with either chicken, prawns, or beef, starting at SAR56. We’d also recommend the Cashew Chicken (SAR54) along with steamed with rice.

To end our meal we tried the Mango Sticky Rice (SAR34), which is a traditional Thai homemade dessert.
