Civil Defence issues heavy rainfall warning in Saudi Arabia

It feels like winter took over Saudi Arabia in a day, there’s now a cooler breeze in the air. And this weekend, some parts of the country experienced moderate to heavy rainfall. We now also have a Civil Defence rain warning for the upcoming weeks.

Sent out by the Saudi Civil Defence via SMS, the text warns of rainfall and the potential for flooding in several regions of Saudi Arabia.

Residents and locals are told to take precautions, avoid areas prone to flooding, and follow safety guidelines released through various media channels according to the Saudi Press Authority.

The Makkah region is expected to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by heavy winds and hail. Several areas of Riyadh and the greater Riyadh region will also be experiencing light to heavy rainfall

Other regions that might be affected by heavy rainfall include Madinah, Ha’il, Qassim, the Northern Borders, the Eastern Region, Al-Baha, Aseer, Jazan, and Najran according to the Civil Defence rain warning.

Tabuk and Al-Jouf are also expected to experience lighter rainfall, the civil defence has urged people to prioritise their safety and follow all instructions provided by the authorities.
