Riyadh Season adds hip-hop pioneer Missy Elliott to its opening ceremony concert line-up

Ready to get your freak on at Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena? Hip-hop pioneer Missy Elliott is set to perform her greatest hits at the Riyadh Season 2024 opening ceremony on Saturday October 12.

The Grammy-award-winning artist is also currently on her first-ever headline tour, Out of This World — The Missy Elliott Experience, after more than 25 years in the music business.
Best known for her Billboard hits “Get Ur Freak On”, “Work It” and “The Rain,” a song sampling 1973’s “I Can’t Stand the Rain” by Ann Peebles, the iconic pop star, rapper, producer, and songwriter first became a major pioneer for women in rap and hip-hop in the 1990s, especially with the release of her debut album “Supa Dupa Fly”, back in 1997.
Last year, she became the first woman rapper to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Also joining in on the fun at the Riyadh Season opening ceremony concert are Elliot’s long-time collaborators, superstar Ciara and hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes – the same two artists who are on Missy Elliott’s tour. Definitely a line-up no one saw coming.
We reckon Riyadh Season will announce mega-producer Timbaland (who’s also on the tour and a high school friend of Elliott’s) as the next artist… what do you think?
