Saudi Arabia announces that 2025 is The Year of Handicrafts

There will be several events, activities, and more…

Saudi Arabia’s rich history and culture feature quite a few elements that have stayed with the country as the years have gone by. In recent years, the Ministry of Culture has launched an initiative to dedicate specific years to pay homage to those elements. This year, 2025, will now be known as The Year of Handicrafts.

Rooted in the creativity and skill of Saudi artisans, these traditional crafts symbolize the nation’s resilience while highlighting its diverse cultural identity. The crafts represent the heritage passed down through generations.

Throughout 2025, the Saudi Ministry of Culture will organize an array of events, exhibitions, educational programs, and exciting competitions dedicated to celebrating Saudi heritage. The activities will shine a spotlight on the crafts’ cultural and historical significance while also making sure that the handicrafts continue to be a part of daily Saudi life.

The initiative’s goal is to help grow appreciation for traditional arts and encourage their continued practice and preservation; previously, we’ve celebrated the “Year of Saudi Coffee,” the “Year of the Camel,” and the “Year of Arabic Poetry.”

Handicrafts, including palm weaving, metalwork, and pottery, serve as enduring symbols of Saudi culture, blending tradition with modernity. By celebrating these art forms, the Year of Handicrafts aims to inspire the newer generations to engage with their heritage and highlight the talent of Saudi artisans to both local and global audiences.
