These are the best Thai restaurants in Riyadh to check out
The list of the right places is small but mighty…
Thai cuisine has recently become a favourite in the capital, and though we may not know what brought about this sudden interest, we’re happy to reap the rewards. I’m not much of a connoisseur when it comes to the cuisine, though I’m trying to get there, one plate of pad Thai at a time. Luckily for me, the capital seems to be taking the hint and opening up many places to savour the cuisine. These are the best Thai restaurants in Riyadh.
Thai Soi

Thai Soi is an authentic Thai eatery with two locations in Riyadh. Here, you get a youthful, colourfully casual spot that serves modern renditions of classic Thai recipes. The most exciting part? It’s helmed by Thai chefs, so you know you’re getting the real deal. From vibrant curries bursting with aromatic spices to delicate stir-fried creations, each plate showcases the depth and complexity of Thai cuisine. The swell of bright dishes includes familiar staples like larb kai (minced chicken served on lettuce), som tum (green papaya salad), massaman curry, and pad thai.

Thaiya

A more contemporary interpretation of Thai cuisine, Thaiya is more inventive when it comes to its dishes while still keeping the authenticity alive by using authentic Thai ingredients. Calling itself a union of the east, Thaiya presents both meat-centric and vegan dishes for you to enjoy. Tuck into classics like chicken pad Thai and green curry, or check out pineapple fried rice and stir-fried tofu with Thai basil.
Thaiya, Prince Muhammad Ibn Abd Al Aziz, Tahliah St, daily, 1pm to 12.30am. @thaiya.sa
Phet Phet

Currently still in the soft-opening stage, Phet Phet is the newest spot on the list. A little Thai kitchen (their definition, not ours), Phet Phet lands in the capital from Kuwait where it’s a no-nonsense quaint spot serving great eats, and we think the same ambience carries over to the Riyadh location. Mains on the menu include spicy potato noodles, panang curry (made with homemade red curry paste with coconut milk and peanuts), shrimp cashews, and so much more.

Baan Thai

An oldie but a goodie when it comes to Thai food in Riyadh, before recently when newer spots started opening up, Baan Thai was one of the only restaurants in Riyadh serving Thai cuisine. A no-frills, comparatively more economical option on this list, Baan Thai’s most ordered dishes include sriacha sizzling prawns, the fried rice, and the seafood tom yum soup.
Baan Thai, 6901 4446 Al Urubah Rd, Umm Al Hamam Al Gharbi, Sat to Thu 11am to 11.30pm & Fri 12.30pm to 11.30pm.
