You can now get onboard the Jeddah Water Taxis

Take the scenic route…

One of the most anticipated projects in Jeddah was the launch of the incredible Jeddah Water Taxis, and now we’re nearly there. Test runs have now begun between three main locations.

During the holy month of Ramadan, the taxis will operate daily from 3.30pm to 1.30am, and the trip fare ranges between SAR25 and SAR50 depending on where you’re going. Children ride free of charge.

Currently operating between Jeddah Yacht Club, Historic Jeddah District, and Sharm Obhur District, the sea taxi project will expand to cover other locations along the Jeddah waterfront in the near future.

The Sharm Obhur District, which is closed at the moment, is scheduled to start welcoming visitors in the coming period.

In the first phase, there are two boats, one with a capacity of 94 passengers and the other with a capacity of 55 passengers. There are also specially designated entry and exit points for people with disabilities with a capacity of four chairs.

Once complete, the project will be home to 20 state-of-the-art water taxi stations, each with a daily passenger capacity of 29,000 individuals, in a significant move aimed at bettering public transportation and helping traffic congestion.

If you’re looking to book tickets, a dedicated app has been launched with details accessible via the Jeddah Transportation Company app.
