A dust wave will take over Riyadh and the Eastern Province this week

Stay safe…

It seems that dust storm season is officially upon us here in Saudi Arabia, specifically Riyadh. Earlier this month, a red weather alert was issued in the capital, and this week there’s another dust storm coming to Saudi Arabia.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the National Center for Meteorology forecast dust-stirring winds and rising temperatures in parts of Madinah, Makkah, Riyadh, Qassim, and Eastern regions.

A dense dust storm that began affecting southern Iraq and Kuwait, by extension, dusty conditions are expected to extend toward the capital, Riyadh, during the afternoon and evening hours, but at a lesser intensity. Dust concentrations will be higher and will significantly impact horizontal visibility in the eastern parts of the Kingdom, according to Arabia Weather.

Weather all over the country is expected to take a dip. Winds over the Red Sea will be northerly to northwesterly at speeds of 20 to 55 kilometres per hour in the northern and central parts and southwesterly to the northwesterly at speeds of 15 to 25 kilometres per hour in the southern part.

Waves may range from half a meter to over two meters; the sea will be calm to choppy. Thunderstorms are also expected in the Jazan and Aseer regions.
