Class is in session…
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is launching a new high school course titled “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” in an effort to localise AI education and build a digitally skilled generation. This is what we know about the new Saudi Arabia AI subject in schools.

The new Saudi Arabia AI subject in schools is meant to be an elective for 12th-grade students in the general track, and it is meant to keep up with global technology trends while teaching students the basics of AI and how it can be used in the real world.
Over 50,000 students across the country are expected to take part in the first phase of the programme. The course will be delivered through a custom-built digital platform, and the material is expected to blend multimedia content, teacher supervision, and project-based assessments throughout the academic year.
The course is one of several projects led by SDAIA to boost national capabilities, improve data infrastructure, and cultivate AI talent across various sectors.
The move comes alongside the UAE’s decision to introduce ‘Artificial Intelligence’ as a mandatory subject in the next academic year.
Saudi Arabia has also introduced a brand-new AI-powered plan for Hajj 2025. On X (formerly Twitter), the Presidency revealed that the plan will roll out the most comprehensive set of smart digital services in Hajj history.
