Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has just announced the launch of a brand-new company to develop, manage, and operate Expo 2030 in Riyadh. This is everything we know about Expo 2030 Riyadh Co.

A completely PIF-owned company, Expo 2030 Riyadh Co. has been tasked with developing, managing, and operating the infrastructure and programming for the Kingdom’s first World Expo, according to Arab News.

Once operational, it is expected to add USD5.6 billion to the national economy, and before that, the project is expected to contribute USD64 billion to Saudi Arabia’s gross domestic product and generate around 171,000 direct and indirect jobs. The newly launched company will also be looking after the Expo 2030 site and preserving its long-term legacy too.

Covering an impressive six million square metres, once complete, the Expo 2030 site is set to be one of the largest World Expo venues ever built. The site will be located in the north of Riyadh, near the upcoming King Salman International Airport, and offer direct access to major city landmarks.

Happening from  October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031, Expo 2030 will be hosted under the theme of ‘Foresight for Tomorrow.’ After running its course, Expo 2030 Riyadh Co. will turn the site into a “global village”—a ”multicultural destination featuring retail, food  and beverages, and premium residential offerings. Participating nations will have the opportunity to construct permanent pavilions.
