Saudi Arabia extends grace period to amend visit visa statuses
The grace period has just been extended
The General Directorate of Passports has announced the launch of an initiative to help expired visit visa holders. The initiative is set to extend all types of expired visit visas for final exit. This is what you need to know about the extended expired Saudi visit visa initiative.
The initiative provides a 30-day grace period, effective from Safar 1, 1447 AH, which corresponds to July 26 to August 23 on the Gregorian calendar, after payment of the prescribed fees and fines.

Applicants can now submit requests through the new “Tawasul Service” on the Ministry of Interior’s Absher electronic platform during the specified period. The service enables individuals to submit requests to the passport department and allows follow-ups on existing requests.
The General Directorate of Passports has urged all the qualifying candidates to take advantage of this limited-time opportunity and apply for the final exit before the deadline expires.
The directorate urged concerned individuals to take advantage of the initiative within the designated timeframe.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) is bringing back the Saudi stopover visa for passengers travelling with Saudia and flynas. The stopover visa holders are now also eligible to perform Umrah. First launched back in 2023, the Saudi stopover visa was, at the time, the latest step in making the destination more accessible.
Also, going for an Umrah has just gotten easier. You’ll be happy to know that no matter which of these visas you have, you can now perform the religious pilgrimage with the new Umrah visa rules. According to the new rules, GCC residents can now perform umrah on either an umrah, transit, or tourist visa.
