Just in: Civil Defence warns of heavy rainfall in Saudi Arabia

In an interesting turn of weather-related events, we’re finally expecting some rainfall in Saudi Arabia. Announced just today, the General Directorate of Civil Defence warns of heavy rainfall in Saudi Arabia starting this Sunday and continuing until Thursday.

The General Directorate of Civil Defence has urged the public to exercise caution and stay in safe areas, avoiding locations where torrents and valleys are likely to accumulate, according to the Saudi Press Agency. It is also advised not to swim in these areas.

There’s also a warning against approaching valleys and flood-prone zones. The instructions come in response to thunderstorms that are expected to affect several regions of the Kingdom. Parts of the Hejaz region are expected to receive rainfall this week.

The directorate explained that the Makkah Region will experience moderate to heavy rain, which could result in torrential downpours, hail, and dust storms. Affected areas include Taif, Maysan, Adham, and Al-Ardhyat.

Meanwhile, light to medium rainfall is anticipated in Makkah, Al-Jumum, Al-Muwayh, Turabah, Ranyah, Al-Laith, and Al-Qunfudah. Additionally, Jazan, Najran, Aseer, and Al-Baha regions are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall.

The Civil Defence urged the public to be aware of the importance of staying alert and compliant with instructions to ensure public safety during the unstable weather conditions.
