Cricketers in Saudi Arabia are set to to get a brand-new academy

A new partnership was signed

Growing up, cricket was the sport I connected with the most. A true Pakistani at heart, despite growing up in the heart of Riyadh, cricket was always something discussed at the lunch table with a healthy helping of kabsa, of course (I’m a Libra; I’m all about the balance). Now, both my passions are coming together with cricketers in Saudi Arabia getting a new academy.

After a partnership was signed between the USA’s National Cricket League and the Saudi Cricket Federation, the two organisations agreed to work together on several key areas.

The organisations will be working on grassroots developments by creating a school, an academy, and community cricket programs; hosting tournaments and clinics; and building pathways for young talent to progress to the highest levels of the game.

That’s not all, though. The partnership is also set to focus on exchanging best practices in infrastructure, coaching, league operations, and player development. And since coaches don’t play, the partnership will also establish coaching certification pathways, set umpiring standards, and implement digital training tools.

Young cricketers in Saudi Arabia will also be allowed to participate in NCL development events, including the Collegiate Cricket League, a leading university-level competition, and the upcoming Path to Cricket Pro talent hunt.

The partnership aims to create opportunities for young, emerging Saudi cricketers by giving them a platform to participate in NCL tournaments across the USA and Canada, while building the future of cricket together between both nations.
