Saudi academic calendar 2025-2026: all the key dates

It’s that time of the year again. Back-to-school season is officially upon us, after nearly two months of the summer holiday. If you’re prepping for the return to school or university here are all the key dates on the Saudi academic calendar 2025-2026 you need to have on your radar.
It’s important to remember when we’ll be heading back to school or university (or, as we like to call it, the return to reality).
It is to be noted that some schools are allowing flexible returns to school, provided that they comply with the Ministry of Education’s minimum school days. Unlike other academic years, the 2025-2026 academic year will see schools in Saudi Arabia return to the previous two-year semester after four years of the three-semester system.

According to the 2025 academic calendar, students are all set to return to school starting on Sunday August 24, with supervisors returning on Tuesday August 12, and teachers after that on Sunday August 17. Read on below to find out all about the key dates on the Saudi academic calendar 2025-2026.
Key dates in the first semester
- Return of the administrative staff and educational supervisors: Tuesday August 12
- Return of all teachers at all educational levels: Sunday August 17
- Beginning of the new academic year for students: Sunday August 24
- National Day Holiday: Monday September 23
- Additional holiday: Sunday October 12
- Autumn break: From Friday November 21 to Saturday November 29
- Additional holiday: From Thursday December 11 to Sunday December 14
Key dates in the second semester
- Mid-year break: From Thursday January 1, 2026 to Saturday January 17, 2026
- Founding Day holiday: Sunday February 22, 2026
- Eid Al-Fitr holiday: Friday March 6, 2026 to Saturday March 28, 2026
- Eid Al-Adha holiday: Friday May 22, 2026 to Monday June 1, 2026
- Summer holiday: Thursday June 25, 2026
