Restaurant review: Brunch at attaché Riyadh

Mornings done right

In recent years, brunch has become something of a phenomenon here in Saudi Arabia, especially in Riyadh. And in my experience (my qualification? I review restaurants for a living at times), thus far, there’s not a single spot like attaché. Swanky from the get-go, this is why you need to brunch at attaché Riyadh.

The people behind the spot? A little company you may have heard of, MDLBEAST (yes, the very same people behind the biggest music festival in the country).

Running every Friday and Saturday from 10am to 3pm, the attaché brunch is the perfect way to add some colour into your weekend mornings/afternoons (who wakes up in the mornings on the weekends anyway?).

The looks

Once an equestrian club, attaché is the latest standalone project from MDLBeast, tucked in a valley between the endless rows of embassies in Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter (DQ).

Drive up to the venue and you’ll immediately be washed over with a sense of calm (rare in Riyadh, we know). Take a look at the sumptuous flora, fauna, and modern hacienda-style surroundings of attaché, and thank us for bringing this spot to your attention later.

The spot exudes rustic charm from the get-go. Venture up the hreen stairs, and you’ll find the heart and soul of the space beckoning you to have a seat and bask in the sun (from the indoor, air-conditioned dining area, of course).

The sprawling restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating areas. Walk in and easy-on-the-eyes, pastel-coloured seating arrangements take up the majority of the indoor space, complemented by fun, colourful, contemporary paintings on the wall and subtle nods to its history through passport graphics and Saudi-inspired prints.

I always say I’m not a breakfast person. A cup of coffee and a bottle of water in the morning, and I’m golden. I may have to change that now that I’ve been spoiled by brunch at attaché Riyadh. The menu is divided into nine solid sections featuring everything from free-range eggs to pizzettas.

The menu starts with light pastries, or rather Danish viennoiseries, and since I’m a Libra and decision-making isn’t a skill, I opt for the set selection.

The spot prides itself on quality, seasonal ingredients. We then tucked into the Italian bruschetta and roast corn salad. Excellent examples of the kind of freshness you’d expect. Followed by the British full pan, margherita pizzetta, and San Sebastian cheesecake.

What’s On Verdict: Great prices, wonderful vibes, and an amazing ambience? What’s not to love?
