All information regarding the permit can be found on the Controlled Drug System (CDS) here. The guide comes as part of the SFDA’s goal to regulate the entry and exit of controlled substances, protect patient rights, and prevent misuse.

How to apply for a Saudi medication permit

You can apply for a permit through the CDS platform by following the steps below:

  • Create a personal account.
  • Submit an electronic clearance permit request with the patient’s details and trip information.
  • Upload documents like a prescription, medical report, and proof of identity.

Multiple medications can be added by providing accurate details, including the trade name, active ingredient, drug concentration, and quantity or pack size. Applicants need to include documents that prove the medical need for the medication and whether it is for the traveller or another patient. Travellers can also track the status of the application; you can check whether the application has been submitted, completed, rejected, or is incomplete.
