When news of Shura Island was unveiled recently, it has captured the attention and excitement of many.
It is, after all, the focal point of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea destination. Designed by Foster + Partners under the ‘Coral Bloom’ concept, the dolphin-shaped archipelago features luxury resorts, residences, a yacht marina, a retail and dining village, various entertainment venues, a wellness centre, and leisure facilities.
Here’s what we know so far about the InterContinental The Red Sea Resort, one of the first three resorts scheduled to open on Shura Island by the end of 2025.
The 210-key InterContinental The Red Sea Resort, nestled at the heart of Shura Island, overlooks vibrant coral reefs and flourishing mangroves.
Step inside and you’ll find a design that blends minimalist elegance with a deep connection to nature. Imagine waking up to breathtaking views of the Red Sea and its surrounding landscapes.
Rooms and suites feature curved facades and open, flowing interiors that reflect the surrounding landscape and architecture, while natural textures are combined with handcrafted details to add warmth and authenticity. Curated artworks by renowned Saudi creatives are seamlessly incorporated throughout the resort, honouring the Kingdom’s artistic heritage.
Restaurant-wise, you’ll find five dining destinations at InterContinental The Red Sea Resort led by Executive Chefs Feras Sharif AlNatsheh and Raamin Samiyi: Darein offers bold Levantine Moroccan flavours, Ardo serves fiery South American dishes, Chimes features relaxed Mediterranean bites, Murrma specialises in coffee and sweets, and The 3O5 embodies Miami’s retro glamour with Latin American-inspired dishes, cocktails, and a lively cigar lounge.
Of course, this is the perfect base for unforgettable experiences, such as adventure, wellness, and togetherness. Guests will be able to explore scenic trails by bike and glide over calm waters with activities such as windsurfing, paddleboarding, and sailing.
Beneath the crystal-clear sea lies the world’s fourth-largest coral reef, where snorkelling and diving excursions, led by expert guides, are available for all ages and skill levels. Guests can also unwind at the outdoor pool or along the pristine beach.
Other facilities that await you and your crew include SPA InterContinental, which combines modern therapies with traditional treatments, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, and Planet Trekkers Club for young explorers.

Although the official opening date has yet to be announced, InterContinental The Red Sea Resort is celebrating its upcoming launch with the Doorway to Discovery offer. Available during the first three months after opening, guests can enjoy breakfast and dinner, along with 50 per cent off a second room booking for Family & Friends, with rates starting from SAR3,000 per room, per night.
