Qatar Airways will soon be launching a direct flight to The Red Sea
The endless allure of The Red Sea’s varied topography – from dormant volcanoes to rolling deserts, sugary beaches and crystalline waters – makes it one of the must-visit destinations in Saudi Arabia
Heard all about the wonders of The Red Sea but still have yet to experience this gigaproject? Jet-setters rejoice. Qatar Airways is making it easier than ever to reach The Red Sea with new direct flights.
Starting Tuesday October 21, Qatar Airways will operate three weekly flights from Hamad International Airport in Doha to Red Sea International Airport (RSI) on Saudi Arabia’s west coast.
The flights will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 7.45am local time and touch down in RSI at 10.45am. The nonstop service will take around three hours.
Meanwhile, flights out of RSI will depart at 11.45am local time, getting you back to Doha in the afternoon at 2.15pm.
With the new route, The Red Sea has become the 12th destination in Saudi Arabia to be served by Qatar Airways, opening access to one of the Kingdom’s most luxurious destinations, featuring over 90 pristine islands, coral reefs, and high-end resorts.
Red Sea International Airport has been welcoming visitors from Jeddah and Riyadh on Saudia flights since 2023, and from Dubai on flydubai services since 2024. Last year, low-cost airline flynas also provided the first direct connection from the Eastern Province to The Red Sea destination.
The Red Sea tourism destination, part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan for development and diversification of the national economy, currently features five luxury resorts, including the St. Regis Red Sea, Desert Rock, and Shebara.
Upon completion in 2030, the regenerative tourism destination will include 50 hotels and more than 1,000 residential properties spread across six locations and 22 islands, and is expected to attract 1 million visitors each year.
Whether you’re after a taste of luxury island living and crystalline turquoise waters or looking to experience the unspoiled natural landscapes, The Red Sea – the first of Saudi Arabia’s gigaprojects to welcome guests – is now just a short flight away from Doha. So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and get ready to explore The Red Sea.
