Expats in Saudi Arabia to get deported if they commit serious traffic violations
Drive safe out there
Saudi Arabia has just announced new amendments to the traffic law. Now, traffic-violating expats in Saudi Arabia can be deported if caught committing dangerous driving offences that endanger public safety.
According to Saudi Gazette and Gulf News, any expat resident handed a final court ruling for traffic violations that risk public safety will then be deported from the Kingdom and permanently blocked from re-entry.
The competent Saudi authorities have approved new amendments to the Traffic Law stipulating the deportation of non-Saudis from the Kingdom if a final court ruling is issued convicting them of committing traffic violations that endanger public safety.https://t.co/D5qYInX2wB

The new regulations have been put in place by the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, and the Public Prosecution. The rules are also introducing stricter penalties for repeat offenders.
How it works
If it’s the second violation within the same year, it triggers the maximum fine. If it’s a third violation within the same year, the violator will be referred to the competent court to consider imposing a prison sentence not exceeding one year, unless the court decides to double the fine for the second violation.
Officials said the amended law clearly defines violations deemed to endanger public safety and outlines procedures for referral to court.
The full list of traffic violations and penalties in Saudi Arabia can be found here; these, however, do not highlight which violations are classified as serious traffic violations worthy of deportation.
