Could this be the most elegant airport lounge in Saudi Arabia?
Paving the way for a world-class airline
It’s the airline everyone is talking about – Riyadh Air. After announcing the start of its first daily flights to London Heathrow Airport (LHR), launching on October 26 for select groups and Riyadh Air employees, the excitement is sky-high.
But that’s not all. Saudi Arabia’s new national carrier has also officially opened its inaugural premium lounge, the Hafawa Lounge, at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
Situated between terminals 1 and 2, the nearly 2,000-square-metre lounge provides seating for around 370 guests and will be reserved only for Business Class and Business Elite passengers.
Inside the Hafawa Lounge
Designed by the award-winning global studio Yabu Pushelberg, the Hafawa Lounge features limestone, oak wood, bronze detailing, and textured plaster elements, drawing inspiration from the stunning natural landscapes of Saudi Arabia.
Here, it’s all about providing different spaces for different vibes. Once inside, Riyadh Air guests are warmly received with authentic Saudi coffee and premium dates, a cherished tradition that honours the Kingdom’s timeless generosity. From there, they can choose from several distinct zones in the lounge to relax and refresh.

Foodies, take note: At The Café, perk up with a freshly brewed coffee made by expert baristas, complemented by a selection of artisanal pastries and light bites from the on-site bakery. The Buffet and Social Dining area provides plenty of seating and a warm atmosphere for a more communal experience.
Seeking a more refined catering concept? Step into the Executive Dining, which provides an à la carte experience, with private dining areas overlooking a serene garden.
Guests can also while away the hours at the Beverage Corner, which serves premium non-alcoholic drinks.
Passengers who want to have a chat can proceed to the Social Lounge, which is the perfect spot for a relaxed conversation. There are dedicated Family Rooms to keep little travellers entertained and parents relaxed, but those seeking quiet can utilise the Private Rooms.
Unique features like the Immersive Room, which brings digital experiences to life, make the lounge worth stopping by.
The digital-first airline has swiftly ensured its premium passengers can enjoy a modern airport lounge experience. It is, therefore, no surprise that technology is integrated throughout, including digital wayfinding, interactive displays, and barrier-free access.
As Riyadh Air prepares to welcome the world, the Hafawa Lounge is more than just a waiting area. It marks the start of passengers’ journeys. And one thing’s certain – the standard for airport elegance has just been set higher.
