Inside The Red Sea EDITION, the first hotel to open on Shura Island
Paradise unlocked
Your next getaway just dropped: The Red Sea EDITION is now open on Shura Island, and it’s every bit as dreamy as it sounds.
Nestled along a kilometre of private beachfront, the region’s newest design-led luxury hotel comes with front-row views of The Red Sea’s sparkling turquoise waters and the lush greenery of Shura Links. Think chic rooms, picture-perfect pools, and all the laid-back glamour you could want for your next seaside escape.
Upon landing at the Red Sea International Airport, guests are whisked away on a scenic desert drive that leads across Saudi Arabia’s longest internal bridge, connecting the mainland to Shura Island. At the end of a palm-lined driveway, The Red Sea EDITION reveals itself as a collection of low-rise stone and timber pavilions gracefully set along a stretch of pristine white sand.
Staying true to the EDITION brand’s signature blend of refined simplicity and contemporary style, the resort features 240 elegantly designed guest rooms, including 53 one- and two-bedroom suites. Guests can unwind by outdoor pools, rejuvenate in the spa and gym, or indulge in a range of dining experiences – from laid-back sea- and poolside venues to signature restaurants.
The beating heart of the property will be – as is customary for all EDITION properties – the lobby. Floor-to-ceiling windows and wide, open doors welcome in the sea breeze to flow freely, setting the tone for the resort’s relaxed sophistication.
The arrival pavilion, sculpted from rammed earth and natural oak, takes inspiration from the rugged majesty of canyon walls found in Saudi Arabia’s deserts. Inside, delicate textiles, lush greenery, and a striking ceramic chandelier that hangs like a fragment of stone, suspended effortlessly in mid-air, bring warmth and elegance to the space.
The Red Sea EDITION comes decked out in a natural palette – earth-toned walls, coral stone floors, warm oak, and soft fabrics – inspired by canyons, coral reefs, and wind-carved dunes. Each pavilion has coral-shaped rooftops, while indoor-outdoor transitions frame views of the Red Sea or the island’s lush golf course.
For dining, the menus reflect on the essence of the sea, spotlighting seasonal ingredients, light and nourishing dishes, and beverages that boost immunity, clarity, and vitality. Central, inspired by NYC’s Grand Central Station, is an all-day spot where breakfast hits anytime, pizza is playful, and grilling goes beyond meat. Guests refuel and connect over bold plates and Prohibition-style zero cocktails in a lively, open space.
For a vibrant beach club experience, guests can escape to Jiwa Beach Club, which offers Southeast Asian cuisine with a lively energy, including resident DJs and music. Guests can also dine at the poolside Jiwa Terrace, or the Lobby, where it serves artisanal pastries, tea cocktails, and an Afternoon Aperi-Tea.
Without a doubt, the opening of The Red Sea EDITION is a big moment for the destination as it marks the launch of Shura Island, the main hub of The Red Sea.
Once complete, Shura Island will be home to a collection of world-class resorts, marinas, entertainment, dining and leisure facilities, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to position the country as a global hub for luxury tourism and regenerative development. This extraordinary location is part of an archipelago of 90 untouched islands, fringed by the world’s fourth-largest barrier reef and home to flourishing coral gardens, crystalline lagoons, and thriving marine life.
Not sure about you, but our island escape is calling…
