The Green Falcons are headed to the World Cup

This just in: Saudi Arabia’s beloved national team, the Green Falcons, has officially qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The team will appear for the seventh time next summer. Here’s what we know about Saudi Arabia at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Just yesterday, Saudi Arabia took on Iraq at Jeddah’s Alinma Stadium for the final match of Group B in the Asian playoff round. The match ended with a draw at 0-0. The country finished on four points with the Iraqis but came out on top in terms of goals scored after recording a 3-2 win over third-place finishers Indonesia.

More than 60,000 fans were in attendance in Jeddah, creating a deafening atmosphere. The Green Falcons held firm to confirm their third straight World Cup appearance and seventh overall, according to Saudi Gazette.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be the 23rd edition of the tournament and is set to be the first to feature 48 teams and have three host countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Iraq still has a match to go against the United Arab Emirates next month to confirm which team will progress to the intercontinental playoffs, which will be held in March.

After shocking the world with a major win at the Qatar FIFA World Cup in 2022 against Argentina, we can only imagine what the Green Falcons have in store for us this time around.

Schedules for the tournament have not been announced just yet, but stay tuned to What’s On Saudi Arabia to follow along on the journey of Saudi Arabia at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
