These two Saudi restaurants have joined Michelin Guide's Bib Gourmand list

The happy news was revealed on Saturday

When it was first announced that the Michelin Guide would be coming to Saudi Arabia, I was beyond excited (ask anyone, and they’ll vouch for me). Then the first wave of restaurants was announced, and I was ecstatic too. The second wave has also just been revealed, and these are the restaurants that have made it to the Bib Gourmand list in Saudi Arabia.

Bib Gourmand recognises places offering great cooking at reasonable prices. For the second selection, one Riyadh restaurant and one restaurant from Jeddah have made it onto the list. Read on to find out more about the Bib Gourmand list in Saudi Arabia.

Fi Galbak

Located in Riyadh, Fi Galbak is Chef Hisham Baeshen’s first restaurant. Serving Saudi fare from five regions all over the country, plus a few Middle Eastern dishes littered throughout the menu, Fi Galbak translates to in your heart” in English. Step inside the gorgeous restaurant, and you’ll find the space lit up with natural light flowing in through vintage-style green arched windows. Overhead floral arrangements and foliage set the picturesque scene as you tuck into homey dishes and drinks (and of course, dessert).

The Lucky Llama

The Lucky Llama brings together the best of Peruvian and Japanese flavours in a quaint spot in downtown Jeddah. Owned and operated by Nihal Felemban, the Chef and founder, the restaurant pays homage to her travels all over the world and the dishes she discovered. The fine-dining restaurant welcomes you into a dimly lit space, complete with cool-to-the-touch marble-top tables, and meals that will make you feel like you’re travelling the world right along with the chef.

Tameesa

Get ready for a wait; everyone comes to this restaurant because it’s low-priced and amazing. The mugalgal beef and falafel pizza are two highlights from its menu. For the adventurous, try the fried liver with vegetables. The restaurant itself has a beautiful setting too, and the outdoor seating is not one to miss.

Mirzam

Here, the casual restaurant offers an impressive spread of sharing dishes inspired by the country’s diverse food culture through a modern spin in the kitchen and on the floor. The minimalist space is bright and inviting and accented with Sadu-inspired cushions, a range of pottery wares, and geometrical art patterns on the wall. The straightforward menu is influenced by the rich culinary traditions, local produce, flavoursome spices, and cooking methods passed down through generations, defining Saudi Arabian cuisine today.

Kayzo

From What’s On Saudi Arabia Homegrown Restaurant of the Year to Bib Gourmand recipient – congratulations, Kayzo. A well-deserved nod to its Japanese contemporary dishes and exceptional value.

Joontos in AlUla

Enjoy a delectable feast of Saudi-inspired dishes curated by Kerten Hospitality and Michelin Star Chef Jaume Puigdengolas at Jontoos. Part of Dar Tantora The House Hotel, the Spanish-inspired Middle Eastern restaurant is an ensemble of renovated traditional buildings resembling a medina, with its maze of narrow streets and walls covered by cob.
