We went to the Six Flags Qiddiya City soft opening - here are our top 3 rides
Six Flags is one part of Qiddiya City, the upcoming hub for entertainment, sports and innovation located about an hour’s drive from Riyadh
Whether you love them or hate them, everyone remembers their first roller coaster ride. For theme park nerds like us, that experience sparked a passion for adrenaline that drags us on holidays around the world in pursuit of humanity’s wildest creations. Just like with music, movies, or food, we all have our favourites.
So you can imagine our excitement when Six Flags Qiddiya City opened its doors to a select number of visitors for its highly anticipated soft opening ahead of its official launch on Wednesday December 31.

Even with only a handful of attractions operating during our visit, the energy in the park was electric – music pumping, crowds buzzing, and rides in full swing.
After spending the day exploring and chasing between the biggest thrills available, we’ve narrowed down our top three roller coaster rides – because any chance to pull down a lap bar or snap into an over-the-shoulder restraint is one we won’t pass up.
Adrena-Line
If you’re looking to kickstart your visit with a rush, Adrena-Line is the perfect entry point. This high-speed coaster with seats hanging beneath the track is designed for a tween audience looking for something more thrilling than a kiddie coaster but not yet ready for inversions. Smooth, fast, and wildly addictive, it’s the kind of ride you’ll want to go on more than once.

Colossus

True to its name, Colossus is a massive, 95-foot-tall hybrid wooden coaster that winds throughout the Grand Exposition theme land at Six Flags Qiddiya City. The towering structure commands attention the moment you enter the park, and the ride itself doesn’t disappoint. Expect big drops, intense airtime, and a layout that keeps the adrenaline-charged experience going. Easily one of the park’s standout attractions so far.

Iron Rattler

High-speed thrill-seekers who enjoy living on the edge (hi, it’s me) will live for the Iron Rattler. It’s one of those coasters that looks intimidating from afar but wins you over the moment you buckle in. You’re hauled up a 208-foot lift hill, giving you just enough time to second-guess your life choices before the ride unleashes its star move: a full tilt-track element that pauses, tilts, and teases before sending you plummeting into the action.
As the world’s tallest tilt coaster and the star attraction at Steam Town, Iron Rattler delivers pure chaos in the best way. The moment it releases, the first drop is a delirious, scream-ripping freefall, and what follows is fast, smooth, and packed with wicked surprises that strike when you least expect them. It’s the kind of ride that makes you go “did that just happen?”, and you’ll find yourself eager to queue again (if you don’t mind the two-hour wait, that is). Check out the video above for a look at the ride.

The soft opening proves one thing: even with a limited number of rides, Six Flags Qiddiya City is already setting a bold new standard for fun in Saudi Arabia. And if this is only the beginning, the full opening will be next level.
