Saudi Arabia just ranked as the world's most trusted government

For the third consecutive year

The 2026 Edelman Trust Barometer has just placed Saudi Arabia as the world’s leading country for public trust in government for the third consecutive year. That’s right, Saudi Arabia is the world’s most trusted government.

According to Arab News, a total of 89 per cent of respondents said that they trust their government to do what is right, up two percentage points from last year.

The report also suggested that countries with the highest trust levels also demonstrate strong economic growth and high optimism among the population. When researching for the report, an interesting but not entirely shocking truth was revealed: when citizens trust their government, economies thrive.

This trust creates a virtuous cycle: people invest more, innovate boldly, attract talent to the country, and collaborate freely, thereby generating sustainable economic momentum that benefits everyone.

The global launch event for the 2026 Edelman Trust Barometer took place during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Richard Edelman, CEO of Edelman, presented this year’s findings, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Alan Murray.

In high-trust environments, like Saudi Arabia, investors make long-term investments, start ambitious ventures, and share knowledge openly. They operate with confidence that rules are stable, opportunities are real, and success will be protected, per the article by Nasser bin Hamed Al-Ahmad.

What this means is that when people see actual, real results in their day-to-day lives, trust most definitely increases, which is just what’s happening in Saudi Arabia.

Just last year, Saudi Arabia ranked first globally in future outlook too, with 69 per cent of citizens believing the next generation will be better off. This optimistic perspective starkly contrasts with the less than 50 per cent in most other countries, showcasing the positive societal impact of Vision 2030 and the nation’s commitment to sustainable development.
