Gliding seamlessly across the Kingdom’s far-reaching sand dunes and stunning desert landscapes is about to get much more glamorous.
Lovers of luxury rail journeys will soon have a new ultra-chic way to add to their travel wish lists now that Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) and the Italian Arsenale Group, which specialises in managing luxury train trips, have announced the launch of the Dream of the Desert luxury train service in Saudi Arabia.
This will mark Saudi Arabia’s first luxury train, taking passengers on a 1,300-kilometre journey across the Kingdom. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the first trip will take travellers from the North Train Station in Riyadh to Al Qurayyat, passing through Hail in between.
Ready to hop on board? Offering a reimagined adventure of Saudi Arabia in motion, Dream of the Desert is set to debut in the fourth quarter of 2025. The 15-car train will have 40 state-of-the-art luxury cabins with a capacity of 80 passengers to provide an intimate yet extravagant travel experience.
Think Orient Express-style luxury travel but infusing the train’s design with a blend of Saudi tradition and Italian luxury.
Expect an all-encompassing luxury travel experience in unparalleled comfort, with the most exclusive and innovative services, from fine dining restaurants and lounge bars to first-class entertainment and sophisticated local experiences.
One or two-night trips will be available to book, with reservations scheduled to open at the end of this year.
