The Riyadh Metro launches five new stations

The new stations will be serving orange and blue lines…

We’re sure you’ve heard the news and perhaps even experienced it yourself, but in case you haven’t, you should know that all of Riyadh Metro’s lines are fully functional. Today, the Riyadh Metro launches five new stations.

As the openings of the project proceed, it goes on to reduce congestion in high-traffic zones and is now expected to be used by more than 1 million passengers annually.

As of today, five new stations have launched, including the Blue Line’s Al Wurud 2 Station, National Museum Station, and Al Bat’ha Station. That’s not all though; the project will also be launching two new stations for the Orange Line, including Dhahran Al Badiah Station and Al Jarradiyah Station

The opening of the National Museum station also means seamless transit between the Blue and Green lines. The Riyadh Metro covers six main lines and 84 stations, covering a distance of 176 kilometres. The network covers most of the highly populated districts, government facilities, and key educational and commercial areas.

The six lines are:

  • Blue Line: Olaya to Batha’a, covering a 38-kiloemetre distance
  •  Red Line: King Abdullah Road, covering a 25.3-kilometre distance
  •  Orange Line: Al Madina Al Monawara to Prince Saad bin Abdul Rahman Al Awal road, covers a 40.7-kilometre distance
  •  Yellow line: King Khaled International Airport Road, covering a 29.6-kilometre distance
  •  Green line: King Abdul Aziz Road, covering a 12.9-kilometre distance
  •  Violet Line: Abdul Rahman bin Aouf road to Shiekh Hassan bin Hussain bin Ali road, covering a 30-kilometre distance

You can get tickets to the metro online by selecting tickets and destinations through the Darb application, which is available on both IOS and Android, in English and in Arabic, or you can alternatively get your tickets via ticketing machines at the stations.
