RSVP now to join us at the first-ever What's On the Menu event in Riyadh

Come have dinner with us…

2025 is going to be a big year for us here at What’s On Saudi Arabia, and month two is already looking sweet. Welcome to our first-ever What’s On the Menu in Riyadh at the sensational White Robata, and we’re inviting you to join us for this unique experience…

Happening on Sunday February 16 at the gorgeous Laysen Valley complex, White Robata will be setting a picture-perfect table for you out on the beautiful, sprawling, and newly opened terrace. You’ll want to have your phones out for this one. The restaurant packs a punch in both style and substance, and the interesting design detail is matched masterfully by a menu that hits the high notes time and again.

White Robata is a Japanese American concept, inspired by international flavours. With a sprawling open-plan kitchen, diners enjoy the spectacle of skilled chefs combining traditional techniques with unexpected ingredients to create inventive signatures. As its name suggests, the menu is centred around robatayaki – dishes cooked over fire. You’ll find all the contemporary Japanese staples here, with a unique spin, of course.

The venue also won big at the What’s On Saudi Arabia Awards 2024, taking home one of the Grand Prix awards of the evening. White Robata won Newcomer of the Year, so you can imagine how excited we are to go back.

Introduction to the event

Since this is the very first of its kind in the Kingdom, let us give you the lowdown on what we’re all about over here at What’s On. What’s On the Menu is our version of a chef’s tasting table, a supper club with a few signature fork twists. The exclusive event is open to a limited number of our readers and invites you for an unforgettable day out on the town with foodie fun for the ages.

What’s On the Menu?

The menu is divided into five sections, including raw, graze, robata, dessert, and drinks. The menu is centred around robatayaki – dishes cooked over fire. You’ll find all the contemporary Japanese staples here, with a unique spin, of course. These include a six-hour braised short rib finished on the grill with a maple glaze, spicy tuna wonton taco and the truffle hamachi crispy rice with tobiko roe and ponzu. Other menu highlights include chutoro tataki (tuna belly served with tabasco ponzu), short ribs gyoza, miso black cod rice, and Wagyu ishiyaki. Pair all these with the right mocktails and you’re golden.

We’d recommend you save room for dessert because the Valrhona chocolate fondant is absolutely to die for and so is the matcha creme brulee.
