The Saudi stopover visa is set to make a return

These passengers can spend up to 96 hours in the country…

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) is bringing back the Saudi stopover visa for passengers travelling with Saudia and flynas. The stopover visa holders are now also eligible to perform Umrah.

First launched back in 2023, the Saudi stopover visa was, at the time, the latest step in making the destination more accessible.

The stopover visa application will be automatically available through the airline booking platforms on SAUDIA or Flynas for all passengers travelling through Saudi Arabia to their final destination.

How Saudi Arabia's new social insurance law affects you

The transit visa will allow passengers to stay in the country for up to 96 hours, enabling more visitors than ever to explore Saudi Arabia’s historical, cultural, and spiritual sites.

The visa for stopovers allows entry to Saudi Arabia for people in transit who wish to perform Umrah, visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, and tour the Kingdom. Spiritual travellers can book flights through SAUDIA and Flynas, but must also register for Umrah through the Nusuk platform.

According to the Saudia website, “you can now extend your stay in Riyadh or Jeddah at no extra cost and explore the rich heritage and warm hospitality of Saudi Arabia.”

When booking your trip, select your international departure and arrival destinations and then select flights with the stopover duration that best suits you (up to 96 hours).
The stopover visa itself is free, but electronic service fees and medical and insurance service fees are collected according to the visa regulations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The electronic visa will be sent to the applicant’s email within a maximum of four hours.
