From Pakistan, with love: Burns Road Express Riyadh is now open
It’s the most historic food street in Karachi, Pakistan
Maybe I’m biased, but Pakistani food is one of the best cuisines in the world. It’s also one of the most well-loved cuisines in Riyadh (what can I say, we like to make a splash), and all that is about to go up a notch with the arrival of Burns Road Express Riyadh.
A people’s culinary landmark in Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan, Burns Road is known for its historic significance to the city. Karachites and tourists alike will tell you that this is one of the must-visit food streets the country has to offer.

Bringing a true slice of the cuisine to the capital, you can look forward to traditional juicy bun kababs, paratha rolls, haleem, bbq, biryani, karahi, nihari and more. The venue is now open with stunning outdoor seating, cosy vibes, and desi goodness every evening from 12.30pm to 2am at Riyadh’s Ghirnatah Square.
Named after a Scottish doctor and spy, James Burnes, who worked in British India in the 19th century, the street is famous for its vast array of restaurants, most of which date back to the 1940s.
The street is considered a melting pot of a range of different ethnicities, including Punjabi Saudagaran-e-Delhi, Memons, Gaddis, and Qureshi Baradri.
Serving up various kinds of biryanis (yes, there are multiple), chaats, desi-style shawarmas, street vendor-style fries (my favourite street food when I’m back home), fast-food (or rather bhagaam bhaag food), and much more. Burns Road Express is truly bringing a piece of home to Riyadh.
Whether you’re a fellow desi looking to get your masaledar (spice) fix or just a lover of the cuisine, you simply need to check this place out.
