Get ready for a Japanese Festival in Riyadh soon
The event is in celebration of the 70th anniversary
If there’s one thing that Saudi Arabia loves, it’s Japan and Japanese culture (and who can blame us? It’s one of the most enriching cultures there is). And to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Saudi Arabia-Japan diplomatic relations, the two countries are coming together to host a Japanese Festival in Riyadh.
Happening from Friday October 31, to Saturday November 1, the event will be free and open to the public. The event will put a spotlight on Japanese culture with traditional performances, hands-on workshops, tourism experiences, and corporate booths.

Taking place at the Cultural Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter, the Japanese Festival in Riyadh will focus on the unique blend of ancient traditions and modern innovation. The culture is all about harmony, respect, and collectivism.
That’s not all, though, a very special Kabuki performance will also be happening, which is a form of classical theatre in Japan known for its elaborate costumes, immersive storytelling, and dynamic acting. The performances normally focus on historical events and moral conflict in relationships of the heart.
The full program of the event is yet to be announced, but we’re expecting anime song concerts, martial arts demonstrations, Japanese drum performances, and a Japanese tea ceremony.
Last time around, admission to the event was free, but registration was required only for residents living outside the Diplomatic Quarter.
Location: Cultural Palace, Diplomatic Quarter
Timing: 4pm to 10pm (October 31), 3pm to 9pm.
