Once officially launched, the service will be offered free of charge to all passengers and provide a seamless connection with speeds of up to 300 megabits per second, with the potential of going up to 800 megabits per second in the future.
Through the new flight feature, fliers will soon be able to browse the internet, watch live streams, and hold virtual meetings through various applications without interruption. The new rules will also allow the use of multiple devices at the same time and, for a seamless experience, allow the ease of switching between them at will.
To demonstrate just how high quality the free WiFi actually is, the Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Arabian Airlines Corporation Saleh Al-Jasser and Director General of Saudia Group Eng. Ibrahim bin Abdulrahman Al-Omar watched a livestream of a Saudi Pro League match aboard flight SV1044 at 35,000 feet (bonkers, I know).
That’s not all, though; during the flight, the minister also had a live television interview with a news channel and held a video call with Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha.
At this time, nearly 20 aircraft have already been equipped with the new service, and the project is set to expand to the entire existing Saudia fleet, as well as new aircraft joining the service.
