The exhibition brings together 30 artists from all over the world

Weddings are seldom anything but a lavish affair here in Saudi Arabia, and this brand-new exhibition in Riyadh celebrates just that. Meet A Night of a Lifetime by SAMoCA at JAX.

Running from January 26 to April 18, A Night of a Lifetime by SAMoCA at JAX was curated by Philippe Castro and Alaa Tarabzouni. The exhibition explores the themes of love, ritual, heritage, and the emotional architecture of weddings through a wide range of diverse media artworks.

The exhibition showcases artists whose intimate, grand, humorous, and thought-provoking perspectives on marriage reflect both timeless traditions and the evolving dynamics of human connection.

The multimedia artworks span mediums like photography, sculpture, installation, video, mixed media, drawing, and painting, which delve into how weddings embody universal hopes and public declarations while strengthening the Kingdom’s dialogue with the world through contemporary art.

Featuring newly commissioned works created specifically for A Night of a Lifetime, alongside several significant loans from celebrated artists, these works offer audiences a rich and layered visual experience.

Notable loans include pieces by Italian artist Maurizio Galante, French artist Valerie Belin, and Moroccan artist Lalla Essaydi, each exploring facets of celebration, cultural identity, or personal memory. Highlights also include works by Saudi Arabian artist Ayman Yossri Daydaban, Moroccan artist Majida Khattari, French Tunisian artist Shourouk Rhaiem, Lebanese artist Milia Maroun, and many more.

Visitors can expect a multi-sensory journey across the celebratory and reflective dimensions of the wedding, from the sparkle of traditional gold jewelry and the rustle of embroidered fabrics to the sounds of folk music and the framed moment of a posed photograph.

The exhibition invites audiences to look at marriage through a new lens, not only as an iconic moment in life but also as a living space where family histories converge, traditions evolve, and futures are imagined.
