Listening to classical music by candlelight in a beautiful setting sounds like the peaceful haven we all need.
…and you can. On December 31, 2021, you’re invited to experience music in a new light with a unique Candlelight Concert in an intimate atmosphere surrounding Hegra at AlUla.
With countless flickering candles illuminating the Unesco World Heritage Site, the concert will be performed live by the Stefan Lombard ensemble, comprising piano, violin, cello, and oud.
In a thoughtful arrangement, Lombard has created a suite, a collection of short musical pieces to be played one after the other. The suite starts with classic compositions and moves through contemporary, Arab, movie soundtrack-inspired compositions and ends with a revised take on pop music.

A magical setting
Imagine attending a beautiful concert, surrounded by more than 500 high-tech hand-sculptured candles flickering over 100 monumental tombs carved from rock formations? That would be dreamy.
Interestingly, the candles can shine all night and reach four times the brightness of a traditional candle without burning or melting. The unique colour combination allows for the same warmth as an actual flame candle. In addition, its innovative algorithm can make an entire set of candles flicker differently, just like real candles would.
With Hegra as the focal point of this musical performance, the Candlelight Concert aims to highlight and amplify this extraordinary piece of ancient architecture and take the audience on a musical journey through time.
This magical experience – part of AlUla Moments’ Winter at Tantora – is all thanks to Balich Wonder Studio, the live entertainment group and leader in the creation and production of large-scale events and shows worldwide.
BWS-KSA, the branch of the Balich Wonder Studio group based in Saudi Arabia, has been appointed by the Royal Commission for AlUla to produce multiple activities throughout the entire AlUla Moments season that will enfold in late March 2022.
