Saudi Arabia is set to welcome its first Spinneys next year, with the UAE-born grocery brand will arrive in Riyadh in the first quarter of 2023. Through a partnership with Abdulmohsen Al Hokair Holding Group, Spinneys will initially debut in the Saudi capital, but plans to expand to further cities are already in the pipeline.
Commenting on the news, Sunil Kumar, CEO of Spinneys Dubai, said, “We have considered expanding into Saudi Arabia for several years. With the right structures in place, and a willing and capable partner in the Abdulmohsen Al Hokair Holding Group, we look forward to bringing the Spinneys brand to the people of Saudi Arabia.”
Currently there are some 80 Spinneys stores across the UAE and Oman. At the end of last year, the grocery retailer acquired Souk Planet stores in Abu Dhabi, as it seeks to continue expanding its footprint in the region.
In the UAE, Spinneys is involved in partnerships with local farmers and producers through programs such as the Spinneys Farmers’ Club, as part of a mission to support local suppliers in the region. When Spinneys launches in Saudi Arabia next year, a similar initiative can be expected.
