Hottest summer menus and exciting new offerings to check out in Riyadh
From nutritional menus to the latest dishes…
Summer just got hotter as restaurants update their menus with new seasonal items. From Indian to Italian and biryani to seafood, there’s something for just about everyone. We’ve rounded up some of the hottest summer menus and exciting new offerings in Riyadh.
Café Bateel
If you haven’t been to Café Bateel lately, you will enjoy their new seasonal menu inspired by the wholesome flavours of the Mediterranean summer. Each item has been created using premium ingredients sustainably sourced from home-grown farms, including Bateel’s date groves in Al Ghat, Saudi Arabia, the wheat fields of Umbria, Italy, and local farms in the UAE.
Sample the best of the season where each dish – from fresh salads and signature mains to delectable desserts and refreshing beverages suitable for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – is designed to celebrate fresh, nutritious produce.
Guests can indulge in a healthy and nourishing breakfast featuring new vegan selections like the Bateel Porridge. It tastefully melds Bateel’s all-natural date syrup with quinoa, chia seeds, rolled oats, and almond milk served with fresh bananas and summer berries and topped with roasted coconut flakes.
Other highlights include the Minestrone, a piquant beef broth served with mini meatballs, Umbrian beans, Orzo pasta, crispy croutons, and Parmigiano Reggiano, and the pan-seared Wild Black Cod served on a bed of Basque-style chickpeas, roasted peppers, tomatoes, and broccolini. The new menu also serves Braised Short Rib Cannelloni, which comes with tender short ribs and veal, Italian four-cheese, and Pomodoro sauce.
In the mood for desserts? The rich and creamy Date Tres Leches blends Café Bateel’s vanilla date syrup into a light and moist sponge and is finished with fresh mascarpone, Chantilly cream, and Segai dates. Or try the Lemon Tart, filled with zingy lemon curd, fresh lemon confit, Italian meringue, and whipped lemon jelly. Finally, wash all this down with a selection of drinks infused with luscious summer flavours, from fruity mocktails to date and pistachio-infused beverages.

Zafran Indian Bistro
Award-winning Zafran Indian Bistro continues to draw diners with its innovative flavours, classic Indian comfort food and visual flair as their new dishes spice things up. Notables include the Patiala Tawa Mutton, Bhuni Tangdi, Raan Zafran, and Mahi Samarkand – whole sea bream marinated with zaatar, sumac and other spices and then roasted in an oven.
From the Green Chicken Curry and Keema Boti to the Murgh Dhaniya Korma and Awadhi Gosht, traditional Indian flavours and spices are elevated by Zafran’s team of chefs to create modern classics. The Lucknowi Beetroot Tikki and Achari Paneer Tikka are a must for vegetarians, while the Chicken Peeli Mirch Tikka wins the prize for most flavour in a single bite.
Of course, no Zafran menu would be complete without some must-try biryanis. We recommend the melt-in-your-mouth lamb in the Rampuri Biryani or the peppery Calicut Prawn Biryani. Returning favourites like the Dhaniya Jeera Aloo and Subz Masala get an overhaul this season, as does the look and feel of the Chaat Platter, Veg and Non-Veg Kebab Platters, and the Zafran Feast, all signature choices for regulars.
Treat yourself to the Rose Milk Cake and Kesar Phirni to finish. In addition to the new dishes, the mocktails bring in the crowds with the Passionfruit Mojito, and Tropical Paradise made with fresh mangoes.
