Coming soon: The return of Riyadh Season and what we know so far…

The program includes theatre shows, Arabic and international concerts, plays, international exhibitions, and a wrestling match…

Are you ready for Riyadh Season 2 because it is coming back in the fourth quarter of 2021? This year’s season’s tagline is “Imagine More”, designed to celebrate a bigger and better event than the inaugural edition.

Full details, including dates, are yet to be revealed, but here’s what we know about Riyadh Season 2 so far.

Turki AlAlShikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) board and president of Riyadh Season, posted a tweet featuring an advertising poster titled “Riyadh Season 2 in numbers”.

According to the details announced, the upcoming Riyadh Season will host 70 concerts by Arab singers and musicians and six concerts with global artists. And for all you EDM fans, believe the hype because the ground-breaking MDL Beast music festival is also in the pipeline.

Other events will include a freestyle wrestling match and an international football game.

The festivities will also include at least 200 restaurants and 70 cafés that are recently launched and 350 theatrical performances and productions, including 18 Arab plays and six international plays. In addition, over 100 interactive experiences and 10 international exhibitions will also be held.

 

This spectacular event, the largest of its kind in the Middle East, is expected to draw as many as 20 million visitors.

How many zones are included?

The second edition of the Riyadh Season will see more diverse and larger-scale events and programs with 7,500 events and activities. It will be held in an area of 5.4 million square meters and will feature 14 zones.

Some zones include the Al Murabba area, Al Salam Tree, Combat Field, Oasis, Riyadh Boulevard, Riyadh Front, Riyadh Safari, Riyadh Season Expo, Via Riyadh, and the much-loved Winter Wonderland.

 

Each zone will host a wide range of entertainment options and activities for all ages, including an outdoor cinema, restaurants, and sports, music, and theatrical events. Expect a chocolate museum, a Mohamed Abdo Theater in appreciation of the Saudi singer, a Ferrari Festival for those who love luxury cars, a wax museum, and so much more.

Foodies and shoppers can also look forward to some of the fanciest international brands like Dior and restaurants and cafes at Via Riyadh.

The historical Ad Diriyah area will also be part of the festival. It will feature events that highlight Saudi culture and heritage, such as falcon shows, music performances, plus dining options to suit all tastes.

 

The Riyadh Season is part of the Saudi Seasons initiative, which includes 11 local seasons covering most parts of the Kingdom. Designed to promote the fledgling Saudi entertainment sector and boost tourism, it attracts some of the biggest names in world entertainment.
