The third edition of The Saudi Cup saw racing – and fashion – fever take over the King Abdulaziz Race Track for two days of thrilling entertainment this weekend.

The shock victory of Saudi-owned Emblem Road

Two days of racing action cumulated in the $20 million Saudi Cup on Saturday February 26, which saw Saudi longshot, Emblem Road, ridden by Panamanian jockey Wigberto Ramos, take a shock victory. Owned by Prince Saud bin Salman Abdulaziz, Emblem Road pinched the victory by half a length from Country Grammer in a five horse sprint.

Jocky Christophe Lemaire rode to four victories

Japanese horses dominated the racing meet, and all four of the Japanese winners were ridden by French jockey Christophe Lemaire. Lemaire rode to victory in the Neom Turf Cup, the Turf Sprint, the Red Sea Turf Handicap and the Riyadh Dirt Sprint.

It wasn’t just the track where the stakes were high at the Saudi Cup, in the style stakes a dazzling dress code brought out an array of spectacular outfits that embrace traditional Saudi culture.

Traditional live performances wowed crowds

As well as the action around the track, an entertainment village saw traditional Saudi folk performances with drumming and dancing.
