Here's what Alicia Keys has been up to on her trip to AlUla

The pop sensation was spotted soaking up the sights and dazzling fans this weekend…

While Alicia Keys may have been in Saudi Arabia on business this weekend, the American pop sensation made sure to squeeze some leisure time into her visit to AlUla.

Ahead of her performance at AlUla’s breathtaking mirrored concert hall Maraya, the pop sensation and her husband Swizz Beats paid a visit to Desert X AlUla. The exhibition, which opened on February 11 and runs until March 30, features the works of 15 regional and international artists each set against breathtaking desert canyons.

On her visit on February 11, Alicia Keys was seen taking particular interest in Angle of Repose by American artist Jim Denevan, a series of 14 circles featuring 26 piles of sand per circle that get progressively smaller towards the centre.

Keys was also seen spending some time at Sultan bin Fahad’s Desert Kite, a mud structure that houses an urn-like sculpture.

That evening, Alicia Keys took to the stage at Maraya Hall for an intimate concert of some of her best-loved hits including Empire State of Mind, Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart, Fallin’ and This Girl Is On Fire, as well as performing three tracks from her new album, Keys.

During the performance, Keys told fans that “it’s amazing to be in AlUla tonight”, and described Maraya Concert hall “one of the most beautiful venues I have ever performed at”. Dropping hints about potential future shows, she also told audiences that she couldn’t wait to go to both Riyadh and Jeddah.

It wasn’t just a flying visit to AlUla for the No One hitmaker. On February 12, Keys was spotted seeing the sights of AlUla’s storied Old Town, before taking part in a talk put on by Good Intentions, the creative agency her husband Swizz Beats set up in Riyadh in November. The event saw Keys alongside the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States HRH Princess Remma bint Bandar Al Saud, plus regional female entrepreneurs discussing an array of topics, such as female empowerment, overcoming self-doubt and how female collaboration paves the way for success.
