These Riyadh restaurants have ranked among the Middle East's 50 Best

A total of 5 restaurants in Riyadh feature on the inaugural MENA 50 Best Restaurants list…

Contemporary Japanese restaurant Myazu has been recognised as the best restaurant in Saudi Arabia, and 15th best restaurant in the Middle East. As unveiled in Abu Dhabi on Monday February 7, the Middle East & North Africa’s 50 Best Restaurants saw five restaurants from Saudi Arabia make the very first MENA 50 Best list.

Located in Riyadh’s Sulimaniyah district MENA 50 Best describes Myazu as a restaurant that “marries traditional techniques with innovative modern-day culinary creativity to create dishes that harmoniously bring texture, aroma and vibrant flavours onto the table. Its flagship outpost boasts loyal patrons lining its doors and seeking a pan-Asian fanfare.”

The menu, expertly curated by chef Ian Pengelley who has spent more than a decade working in Asia alongside some of the region’s top chefs, features gastronomic craftsmanship in dishes like marinated yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño, scallop and foie gras gyoza, plus standout mains including the kinoko Gohan, black cod and wagyu beef.

Alongside Myazu, Riyadh’s Marble restaurant was recognised at a respectable 30th on the MENA 50 Best list. Known and loved locally as a carnivores paradise, the Turki Square restaurant may have begun with just four items (and a side of fries) on its menu, but thanks to its high quality offering, it’s kept diners coming back, whether for its specials or pop-up dining experiences.

Ranking 37th on the list is Porterhouse, the brainchild of chef and restaurateur Khaled AlHussaini, who opened Porterhouse in 2016 as Riyadh’s first elevated, modern Saudi steakhouse. Porterhouse has become known for its cuts – all dry aged in-house – and wagyu steaks grilled over wood and charcoal.

Concluding Riyadh’s impressive mark made on the list are a new-ish addition to the city’s culinary scene, LPM Riyadh, ranking 42nd; and long-standing Tokyo restaurant, now recognised as the MENA region’s 50th best restaurant.
